Dr. Bozard sees clients age 18 and over.
With 17 years of experience in the field, Dr. Bozard has worked with nearly a thousand clients, most of them men. He has prior clinical experience with couples, teens, and women, so he understands the internal dynamics of not just the male population he specializes in but also the other significant people in men's lives. He has experience with and sees men of diverse backgrounds including straight, gay, and bi.
Dr. Bozard's approach is primarily talk, insight, and action-focused, helping you use thoughts and behaviors to bring about change. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Reality/Choice Therapy, Psychodynamic elements, and Gottman Method (for relationships) are primary ways Dr. Bozard may help you. Services are client-driven, meaning that you take the lead in deciding what you want to talk about and make progress with.
Counseling and Therapy are similar concepts often used synonymously. More specifically, Counseling is generally seen as a shorter-term process that focuses on solutions to one or two clearly identified concerns. Therapy, also called psychotherapy, is the more traditional approach that can last as long as needed, with attention to possible underlying causes such as earlier-life trauma and development. In therapy, the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist plays a crucial role, as insight and self-empowerment are developed within the relationship context. Clients should have a quality relationship with a therapist they trust for this process to fully prosper.
